Rules
Following young scholars have volunteered to present their thoughts on Chapter 12, Yoga of Devotion. In order to streamline the presentations, we’re suggesting the following:
- Each student should recite the assigned verse followed by a very brief explanation and perhaps an example that can be related to by young students.
- The presentation should be approximately one minute, but no more than 80 seconds.
- Please forward us the write-up ahead of time we might be able to use this later as well, when we compile our various publications.
- Dipika Sota, Mukesh Dave and Praveen Mehrotra are available through emails and/or phone for any help with the subject matter.

Verse 2: Keshav Khandelwal
Mayya aveshya mano ye maam Ni t ya yu k taa upaa sa te Shrad-dhayaa pa ra yo pe taas Te me yu k ta ta maa ma taa h. | Those who, fixing (aveshya) their mind (mano) on Me (mayya), worship Me (upaaste), ever steadfast (nitya yukta) and endowed (parayo petaas) with supreme faith (shradhdaya), are the best (yuktatmatah) in Yoga in My (me) opinion (mataah).
Verse 3: Anikait Sota | ||
Ye twa-kshara manir deshya Mavyaktam paryu-paasate Sarvatra gam chintyam cha Kootastha machalam dhruvam | Those who worship the imperishable, the indefinable, the unmanifest, the omnipresent, the unthinkable, the immovable and the eternal.
Verse 4: Laya Neelisetty
Sanniyam yendriya graamam Sarvatra sam buddhayah Te prapnu vanti mame va Sarva bhoota hite rataah. | Having restrained all the senses, even-minded everywhere, intent on the welfare of all beings-verily they also come unto Me.
Verse 6: Aneesha Panigrahi
Ye tu sarvaani karmaani Mayi sanyasya matparaah Ananye-naiva yogena Maam dhyaayanta upaasate | But to those who worship Me, renouncing all actions in Me, regarding Me as the supreme goal, meditating on Me with single-minded Yoga,
Verse 12: Anika Arora | ||
Shreyo hi gyaanam abhyaasaaj
Gyaanaad dhyaanam vishishyate Dhyaanaat karma phala tyaagas Tyaagaach chhantir anantaram | Better indeed is knowledge than practice; than knowledge meditation is better; than meditation the renunciation of the fruits of actions: peace immediately follows renunciation. |

Verse 5: Aarush Khanna | ||
Klesho dhik taras teshaa Mavyaktaa sakt chetasaam Avyaktaa hi gatir dukham Deh vad bhir avaapyate. | Greater is their trouble whose minds are set on the unmanifested; for the goal, the unmanifested, is very hard for the embodied to reach.
Verse 7: Prisha Khanna | ||
Teshaam aham samuddhartaa
Mrityu sansaar saagaraat Bhavaami nachiraat paartha Mayyaa veshit chetasaam | To those whose minds are set on Me, O Arjuna, verily I become ere long the savior out of the ocean of Samsara

Mayyev mana aadhatsva
Mayi buddhim niveshaya Niva-sishyasi maiyev At oordhvam na sanshayah | Fix (aadhatsva) thy mind (mana) in Me only (mayyev), thy intellect (buddhim) in Me (mayi), (then) thou shalt no (na) doubt (sanshayah) live in (niva sishyasi) Me(maiyev) alone hereafter (at oordhvam).
Thoughts | In this verse Lord Krishna is telling Arjun, Focus the mind upon me and worship me. Apply the spiritual intelligence for me.Certainly without doubt ,you will reside with me after this physical existence. And you will not be separated from the Supreme Lord ever again.

Mat karma paramo bhava Madartha-mapi karmaani Kurvan siddhim avaapsyasi | If thou are unable to practice even this Abhyasa Yoga, be thou intent on doing actions for My sake; even by doing actions for My sake, thou shalt attain perfection.
Thoughts | It means when you want to get in touch with me (Krishna) think about me while you are doing the thing you are doing. You can practice this verse anywhere you go. If you like to cook, you can think like you are cooking for God.
Verse 11: Aarushi Singhal
Athai tadapya shaktosi
Kartum madyo gamaashritah Sarva karma phala tyaagam Tatah kuru yataatmavaan | If thou art unable to do even this, then, resorting to union with Me, renounce the fruits of all actions with the self controlled.
