Vasudev sutam devam |
Kansa chanoor mardanam |
Devakee parmaa nandam |
Krishnam vande jagad gurum. |
Arjun Uvaach:
|
Evam sa ta t yuk taa ye |
Bhak taa s t waa m par yu paa sa te |
Ye chaa p ya a ksha r mav yak tam |
Te shaa m ke yo g vit tamaa h. |
Those devotees (bhaktaas) who, ever steadfast (satat yukta), thus worship Thee and those also (ye) who worship (paryupaasate) the imperishable (aksharam) and (chaa) the unmanifested (avyaktam) -which (ke) of them (tesham) are better versed (vittmah) in Yoga (yog)? |
Shree Bhagwaan Uvaach:
|
Mayya aveshya mano ye maam |
Ni t ya yu k taa upaa sa te |
Shrad-dhayaa pa ra yo pe taas |
Te me yu k ta ta maa ma taa h. |
Those who, fixing (aveshya) their mind (mano) on Me (mayya), worship Me (upaaste), ever steadfast (nitya yukta) and endowed (parayo petaas) with supreme faith (shradhdaya), are the best (yuktatmatah) in Yoga in My (me) opinion (mataah). |
Ye twa-kshara manir deshya |
Mavyaktam paryu-paasate |
Sarvatra gam chintyam cha |
Kootastha machalam dhruvam |
Those who worship the imperishable, the indefinable, the unmanifest, the omnipresent, the unthinkable, the immovable and the eternal. |
Sanniyam yendriya graamam |
Sarvatra sam buddhayah |
Te prapnu vanti mame va |
Sarva bhoota hite rataah. |
Having restrained all the senses, even-minded everywhere, intent on the welfare of all beings-verily they also come unto Me. |
Klesho dhik taras teshaa |
Mavyaktaa sakt chetasaam |
Avyaktaa hi gatir dukham |
Deh vad bhir avaapyate. |
Greater is their trouble whose minds are set on the unmanifested; for the goal, the unmanifested, is very hard for the embodied to reach. |
Ye tu sarvaani karmaani |
Mayi sanyasya matparaah |
Ananye-naiva yogena |
Maam dhyaayanta upaasate |
But to those who worship Me, renouncing all actions in Me, regarding Me as the supreme goal, meditating on Me with single-minded Yoga, |
Teshaam aham samuddhartaa |
Mrityu sansaar saagaraat |
Bhavaami nachiraat paartha |
Mayyaa veshit chetasaam |
To those whose minds are set on Me, O Arjuna, verily I become ere long the savior out of the ocean of Samsara. |
Mayyev mana aadhatsva |
Mayi buddhim niveshaya |
Niva-sishyasi maiyev |
At oordhvam na sanshayah |
Fix (aadhatsva) thy mind (mana) in Me only (mayyev), thy intellect (buddhim) in Me (mayi), (then) thou shalt no (na) doubt (sanshayah) live in (niva sishyasi) Me(maiyev) alone hereafter (at oordhvam). |
Atha chittam samaa dhaatum |
Na shaknoshi mayi sthiram |
Abhyaas yogen tato |
Maam ichchhaptum dhananjaya |
If thou art unable to fix thy mind steadily on Me, then by the Yoga of constant practice do thou seek to reach Me, O Arjuna. |
Abhyaasepya samarthosi |
Mat karma paramo bhava |
Madartha-mapi karmaani |
Kurvan siddhim avaapsyasi |
If thou are unable to practice even this Abhyasa Yoga, be thou intent on doing actions for My sake; even by doing actions for My sake, thou shalt attain perfection. |
Athai tadapya shaktosi |
Kartum madyo gamaashritah |
Sarva karma phala tyaagam |
Tatah kuru yataatmavaan |
If thou art unable to do even this, then, resorting to union with Me, renounce the fruits of all actions with the self controlled. |
Shreyo hi gyaanam abhyaasaaj |
Gyaanaad dhyaanam vishishyate |
Dhyaanaat karma phala tyaagas |
Tyaagaach chhantir anantaram |
Better indeed is knowledge than practice; than knowledge meditation is better; than meditation the renunciation of the fruits of actions: peace immediately follows renunciation. |
Adveshtaa sarva bhootaanaam |
Maitrah karun eva cha |
Nir-mamo nirahan-kaarah |
Sama dukhah sukhah kshamee |
