Saturday May 18, 2013

  1. Parsippany High School gym will be available to us from 9 to 12 for the setup of the booths, stage, decorations etc.
  2. The Logistics/setup team will be setting up booth tables and creating the stage.
  3. The Decorations team will work on the decoration of the gym, cafeteria, reception, pathways etc.
  4. The Culture teachers will be setting up their booths between 10 and12.

Regarding Stage performances, please make sure the audio and microphones information has been communicated to the Stage Management team. We don't want to have any surprises at the time of the show. For any questions, please contact Rajesh Sansi, Mayank Goswami or Ravi Saran.

Sunday May 19, 2013

  1. Please arrive latest by 9:15.
  2. All students need to be on stage at 9:30. We start the event by prayers and all students are required to participate.
  3. Registration
  4. Upon arrival, please register with the front desk by giving them your family ID. Each enrolled family will receive an envelope containing lunch wristbands and an event brochure. Please tie the wristbands so you do not lose them. There will also be printouts for the passport. We encourage each student to take one and visit all booths and get it stamped. Those who produce evidence of visiting all booths will receive a prize at the end.
  5. Lunch 11:30 - 1:30
  6. Hot buffet style lunch will be available in the cafeteria. Only individuals with wrist bands will be permitted entry in the hall. Sorry, takeout is not permitted.
  7. Raffle 12:30 - 12:45
  8. Raffles will take place between 12:30 and 12:45. There are several raffle prizes and all proceeds from the raffle will go towards the benefit of our school. The raffle tickets will be available before and during the Mela.
  9. Lunch Tickets
  10. A limited amount of lunch tickets will be on sale. Each tickets are $10 per person. Guests 5 years and younger are free when accompanied by an adult.
  11. Help
  12. We need more volunteers to serve food and also to clean-up after lunch. If you have time, please help us.

Booth

Each culture class will have a booth depicting a (group of) state of India as listed below. The complete list of states in India and culture zones is available here. Each class will list it's participants, name and description of booth and provide the information to the brochure team. The teachers may purchase supplies for the Mela from their budget of $5 per student. Any additional expense should be approved by Trustees in advance.

A committee will evaluate booths and give prize to the best booth. We also plan to have special booths for face painting, henna, photography etc. Vidyalaya sponsors will also have their booths at the event.

Culture Programs

A stage will be setup and Vidyalaya students are encouraged to demonstrate their skills by participating in the cultural program. Group and State based items will be given priority over solo and film based events. The best performance will be awarded a prize.
