Web, Browser, Presentation

ContextThe web is omniscient these days and all of us browsers to access information. Vidyalaya is also using the technology to communicate with families.
WhatTo share the knowledge and to raise some funds for the organization, Vidyalaya offers a one-hour seminar after school (12 - 1) for individuals who are interested in how it works and how to prepare web pages without using html editors.
WhoThe target audience is young adults, mature kids typically 8th grade onwards, who can consume and retain knowledge outside of text books. Adults, who are interesting in unravelling the mystery behind the web are also welcome to attend. It only makes sense to invest time and money in it if the participants are willing to do their homework.
DonationWe suggest a donation of $10/per person/per week or $20/per family/per week if 2 or more persons from same family want to participate in this conversation. We will keep track of the donations and if the program works we will expand into other areas of common interest. The maximum contribution we will accept will be $100/per person/per school year or $200/per family/per school year.
CurriculumThere is no formal enrolment, participants come and put money in the jar and take a seat. There is no fixed curriculum either. We take it where it goes based on the interest.
ContentIt will be in a participation style and everyone is encouraged to share their knowledge and fill gaps in it. We will start with basic understanding of how it works, how the text is marked up by html tags and move to CSS, Javascript and server side programming from their on.
CoordinatorThe seminar will be conducted by Umesh Mittal who is currently managing our web portals (Shiksha and Dakhila).
RegistrationWe are not requiring pre-registration for the class. If you are motivated to participate in this adventure, please let us know so we can plan the space. We will do it if we have five or more people and the room probably can accommodate only 20 persons. We would like you to bring your laptop with you and be comfortably seated and connected on the internet before the start at 12.
