Kashyap played many sports while growing up in Kenya. Starting with marbles, gilli-danda and hide-and-seek when young, he grew up playing lots of cricket, soccer and tennis as well as badminton and table tennis. While attending Sunday School, he played kabaddi, kho-kho, carom, langdi, dodgeball, etc. Kashyap excelled in cricket and track+field, and is a brown belt in Karate. These days, Kashyap actively plays tennis year-round and cricket on weekends in the summer.

Mohit has been born and brought up in Mumbai where he's played many sports starting with marbles, four-corners, langdi and then cricket. During monsoon days in Mumbai he played a lot of Carrom and Table Tennis and because of his vast experience and skill in Carrom he has assisted in organizing Carrom Tournaments every year in Parsippany, NJ with the assistance of USCA. During summer in NJ he plays couple of Cricket Leagues and also helps organize a 3-weekend IPL style cricket league know as SPL. He has 2 boys who keep him on his toes for playing outside regardless of the weather and thus has developed a liking to teach sports to kids. He would like to train kids in Carrom and Cricket and help them excel in those sports by participating in few tournaments.

Anand has loved sports ever since he was a kid playing outside with his friends. The sports he grew up playing were hockey, soccer, basketball, ping-pong and baseball. These sports really helped him understand how to work and play together as a team. Being part of the sports club has introduced him to sports that he wishes he knew how to play as a kid. He looks forward to teaching these new sports to all the children at Sunday school.

March 20, 2016 We played Carrom this Sunday and Mohit coached students on the basics of the game. This was our second time playing Carrom. We also played "break the pyramid" game for the first time and the kids loved it. This game was good target practice for the game of "Sitoliya" or "Seven Tiles" that we will be playing in the coming weeks as well.

February 28, 2016 We played indoor cricket in the Yoga room. We had 2 teams with about 10 kids each and everyone learned how to hold a cricket bat and hit the ball to the boundary (which was the wall). The trick was to make sure the balls travelled along the ground and not in the air. The fielding teams were very sharp, and took turns to bowl 2 overs to each batsman. We played an exciting, high-scoring match which was decided with 2 balls to spare!.

February 21, 2016 Kids learnt how to play Kabaddi in the Yoga room, which is lined with soft mats. About 15 kids participated and we started with learning the basic rules and divided into 2 teams to play a few practice games. Once everyone was familiar with the game, the younger kids played some fun and intense games of kabaddi, while the older kids devised and practiced advanced strategies in kabaddi. Thanks to all the dads and moms who helped out with running the games.

January 17, 2016 We played Kho-Kho and it was packed with fun. Thanks Coach Anand for a great sports club session. We all are thrilled to see the enthusiasm and eagerness in the students to learn and play Indian sports.

January 10, 2016 We had another successful edition of our sports club meet this past Sunday. Around 20 students got together and Coach Kash got us all playing "Langdi" (one-legged version of tag) a popular pastime back home in India. Kids could not get enough of it and the parents joined in as well in the last round. Some pictures and videos have been posted on the Vidyalaya Facebook page. Join in if you have not registered yet - just come by and see one of the coaches next Sunday. We will be playing Kho-Kho next Sunday.
Langdi
December 13, 2015 We had our second successful and fun meet of the sports club. Kids played several rounds of dodgeball and some tried their hand at how to hold and handle the cricket bat. Overall, we are very happy with the enthusiastic response and will continue to host the club through most Sundays. Note that we will NOT have the sports club meet on 12/20 as the cafeteria is not available.
