Sports Club: We had another successful edition of our sports club meet this past Sunday. Around 20 students got together and Coach Kash got us all playing "Langdi" (one-legged version of tag) a popular pastime back home in India. Kids could not get enough of it and the parents joined in as well in the last round. Some pictures and videos have been posted on the Vidyalaya Facebook page. Join in if you have not registered yet - just come by and see one of the coaches next Sunday. We will be playing Kho-Kho next Sunday.

Mela Meeting: January 17th, 10:45am Art Room. We will have a kickoff meeting for Mela preparation for volunteers this Sunday from 10:45 am to 11:15 am in the cafeteria. Mela is on May 22nd; this is a big event and we need lots of volunteers to coordinate it all. If you have not volunteered for anything else yet, please come by for this meeting - you will be sure to find some task that will be to your liking.

Contest We will have Pongal/Lohri Picture Coloring Contest. We will provide five coloring pages and students will submit one on or before January 24. The winners will be announced on January 24 after Pongal/Lohri celebration.

Inclement Weather Announcements: In case of snow or icy road conditions on Sunday mornings, please check our website or Facebook page for updates regarding school closings. We do not have delayed openings--our school will either be open or closed. We will also send out a broadcast email to all the families as soon as we have a confirmation. We request you to make sure we have your correct email addresses on file. Please send all requests for email updates to spa@vidyalaya.org.

Lohri and Pongal Festivities: January 24th, After school All Vidyalaya families are welcome to come and celebrate these two North and South Indian festivals. We will have Rangolis, stage decorations, special ceremonies, dancing to the dhol and traditional food items to sample. Everyone is encouraged to dress in north or south Indian clothes. Please see the details about these two holidays. Also, please see lohri song and pongal song which we will be singing together during the celebrations.
