Lohri/Pongal

We celebrated Pongal and Lohri this past Sunday. Traditional Rangoli welcomed us all at the school entrance. Telugu students did a small presentation about Pongal in the assembly. Later, vibrancy of India was displayed in the eclectic ethnic outfits that students and parents wore.

We started with traditional customs of Ganesha pooja, aarti, blessing the kids. The Pongal celebration peaked with Gobbillu dance by girls. We then switched gears with a rendition of the Sundri-mundariye Punjabi folk song for Lohri. We moved on to the foot-tapping beats of Dhol, the Indian "happy drum". Folks danced away in a celebratory dance for the harvest festival. Traditional North/South Indian sumptuous food wrapped up the event.

Admission team is seeking volunteers. If you can get your personal laptop to help with data entry work and processing of admissions forms during school hours, please contact Sanjay Khera (sanjay@vidyalaya.us) or stop by at the admission deck.

There will be no school on 14 February 2016 on occasion of Presidents Day. We meet again on 21 February.

School Store will be open on Feb. 21st. It is also a Spirit Day so remember to wear clothing with school logo.
